Welcome to Hansen School
Where Today's Learners Become Tomorrow's Leaders

Welcome to Hansen School!

Welcome to the 2026–27 school year! My name is Mr. Matt Clinton, and I’m excited to begin my second year as principal of Hansen School. After a wonderful first year getting to know our students, staff, and families, I’m grateful to continue serving this incredible community and look forward to another year of learning, growth, and success.

At Hansen, we believe every child brings unique talents, strengths, and potential. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We strive to develop well-rounded learners by emphasizing academic excellence, character development, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Hansen Huskies show their P.R.I.D.E. every day! We live by our motto: Politeness, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Enthusiasm. These core values guide our students as they grow into confident, responsible, and compassionate citizens who are prepared for success both in and out of the classroom.

At Hansen, we’re committed to creating a positive school culture where every student feels welcomed, valued, and connected. We believe strong relationships are the foundation of a successful school community, and we work every day to ensure students feel safe, supported, and encouraged to take on new challenges. Our staff is dedicated to helping each child develop the confidence, resilience, and character needed to reach their full potential.

We know that strong partnerships between home and school are essential to student success. We encourage families to become actively involved through our PTA, volunteer opportunities, and the many events that make Hansen such a special place. We’re especially excited to grow our WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program this year and invite fathers, grandfathers, uncles, stepfathers, and other positive father figures to become involved on campus. Whether volunteering in classrooms, supporting school events, or simply being a positive presence for students, your involvement helps strengthen our school community and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our children.

I’m proud of all we accomplished together during my first year at Hansen and excited for what lies ahead. By working together and supporting one another, we’ll continue to create a school where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired to succeed.

Thank you for your partnership and support. I look forward to another fantastic year with our Hansen Huskies. Go Huskies!

Hansen School's Instructional Program

At Hansen School, we’re committed to providing students with meaningful learning experiences that challenge, engage, and inspire. Our instructional practices are aligned with California State Standards and are designed to help every student build the academic, social, and emotional skills needed for success in school and beyond. Through a supportive learning environment and high expectations for all, we strive to nurture confident learners who are curious, resilient, and motivated to achieve their personal best.

A strong foundation in literacy remains a priority at Hansen. Students are encouraged to expand their academic vocabulary, strengthen their reading comprehension, think critically, and communicate effectively through both speaking and writing. We also continue to emphasize the importance of cursive writing. Students in grades 3–6 will learn, practice, and be expected to use cursive writing as a valuable skill that supports written communication and academic achievement.

We’re excited to continue offering our highly successful Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program. Through opportunities in dance, theatre arts, and choral music, students can express their creativity, build confidence, and discover new talents that enrich their educational experience. This year, Hansen School is especially proud to participate in the Disney Musicals in Schools program, a unique opportunity that will provide students with hands-on theatre experiences and culminate in a live musical performance. We’re thrilled to expand performing arts opportunities for our Huskies and look forward to showcasing the creativity, collaboration, and enthusiasm of our students throughout the year.

Last year, Hansen implemented a new History-Social Science curriculum that encourages students to explore communities, cultures, and historical perspectives while developing a deeper understanding of citizenship and civic responsibility. This year, we look forward to piloting a new math curriculum designed to promote conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning, helping students become confident and capable thinkers.

These instructional priorities will be woven throughout every grade level as we continue to prepare students for future success. At Hansen, we believe learning flourishes when students feel safe, supported, and connected. Guided by our P.R.I.D.E. values—Politeness, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Enthusiasm—we work together to create a school culture where students are empowered to take risks, persevere through challenges, and reach their full potential.

We look forward to another outstanding year of learning, growth, and achievement for our Hansen Huskies!

Mr. Matt Clinton, Hansen School Principal

Mr. Matt Clinton is excited to begin his second year as principal of Hansen School for the 2026–27 school year. Hansen holds a special place in his heart, as it is where his career in the Savanna School District began. With more than fifteen years of experience in education, Mr. Clinton brings a deep commitment to student success, strong relationships, and creating a positive school culture where every child can thrive.

While attending college, Mr. Clinton worked as an instructional assistant supporting students with behavioral needs. This early experience helped shape his belief that every student deserves to feel understood, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Mr. Clinton began his journey in the Savanna School District at Hansen School, teaching a fourth/fifth-grade combination class. He later taught at Cerritos School in a third/fourth-grade combination classroom before moving to Holder School, where he taught fifth and sixth grades. He served also as a Title I teacher at Reid School, providing targeted academic support to help students achieve success.

As principal, Mr. Clinton is dedicated to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered environment where all students feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn. He believes that strong partnerships among students, staff, and families are essential to building a thriving school community and ensuring success for every child.

After a rewarding first year at Hansen, Mr. Clinton is excited to continue building upon the school's many strengths while creating new opportunities for students to learn, grow, and shine. He looks forward to working alongside Hansen's exceptional staff and supportive families to ensure another year of academic achievement, personal growth, and memorable experiences for all Hansen Huskies.
